— 01 · Scope

A code-first approach to power distribution.

Electrical work at RMC starts at the utility interface and ends at the last device. That means service and metering coordination with the utility, medium-voltage distribution where required, transformation, low-voltage distribution, branch circuits, lighting, grounding and bonding, and the emergency and standby systems that keep critical loads running when normal power fails.

Every design is reviewed against the applicable NEC edition — plus any local amendments — with meeting the code treated as the minimum. Where the code allows discretion, we exercise engineering judgment that anticipates operational reality: how the equipment will actually be operated, maintained, and expanded over its service life.

What we design

Full-scope electrical, from utility to load.

Service entrance and metering

Utility coordination, service entrance sizing, metering configurations, and main disconnect design. NEC Article 230 compliance, available fault current calculations, and coordination with the serving utility's engineering standards.

Medium-voltage distribution

15 kV, 25 kV, and 35 kV class distribution — feeder sizing with Neher-McGrath and CYMCAP thermal analysis, metal-clad switchgear specification, cable bus and ductbank design, and coordination with substation equipment manufacturers.

Transformers and low-voltage distribution

Pad-mount and indoor transformer selection, secondary distribution switchboards, panelboards, and motor control centers. Short-circuit and coordination studies, arc flash analysis per IEEE 1584, and equipment labeling per NFPA 70E.

Branch circuits and receptacle systems

Load calculations, branch circuit design, GFCI and AFCI protection where required, receptacle layout for tenant and specialty spaces, and coordination with mechanical equipment schedules.

Lighting and controls

Photometric design, luminaire selection, and lighting controls per ASHRAE 90.1 and IECC. Egress lighting and exit sign layout, daylighting integration, and coordination with architectural intent.

Grounding, bonding, and lightning protection

Grounding electrode systems, equipment grounding, bonding of separately derived systems, and lightning protection design per NFPA 780 where required. Ground fault protection coordination for services 1000 A and above.

Emergency, legally required standby, and optional standby

Generator sizing and specification, transfer switch coordination, emergency and standby system separation per NEC Articles 700, 701, and 702, and coordination with fire alarm and life safety systems. Enclosure fire-rating and separation from the building.

Our electrical deliverables scale with the project phase — from conceptual single-line diagrams and rough loads at schematic design, through fully coordinated construction documents at 100% CDs. Every submission is stamped by the engineer of record.

Coordinated single-line, panel schedules, feeder sizing, load calculations, and preliminary short-circuit study. Equipment specifications drafted.

Full drawing set: power plans, lighting plans, one-line, schedules, details, and specifications. Short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies complete. PE stamp applied.

Construction Administration
