Aviation projects are almost never greenfield — even new facilities are built inside an operating airport, with an active airfield, an occupied terminal, and TSA-controlled security perimeters. The design has to work against those constraints from the first sketch: apron lighting circuits that stay energized during construction, taxiway edge lighting that gets phased carefully, and terminal MEP that doesn't disrupt passenger operations.
The applicable code and standard set is broader than typical commercial work — FAA Advisory Circulars, TSA Playbook requirements, NFPA 409 for hangars, and airport-specific design standards that vary from airport to airport. We work through those standards early, coordinate with the airport engineering and operations groups, and deliver documents that reflect the operational realities of the specific airfield.
